Character Name: Regulus 'Pavonis' Black

Wand: Unknown. Let's say 13 inch willow, with dragon heartstring core or something of that sort.

Why this character: I am mad for him. I completely adore him, and his namesake Regulus Arcturus. I just really love the name 'Regulus', I guess.
What is said about your character on the lexicon? If you changed canon facts, what did you change?
I don't think I really changed anything, except I put in the possibility of an illegitimate child out there. Although it wouldn't be listed on the tree if it was illegitimate.
Son of Sirius Black and Hesper Gamp
Two older siblings: 1 brother Arcturus (1901-1991) and 1 sister Lycoris (1904-1965)
Not married, no children.
This Regulus would have died just 2 years before his namesake, Sirius' brother, was born.

Sexual Orientation: He is attracted to both men and women but is disgusted with the part of him that is attracted to men in any way and completely squashes that side of him, choosing instead to pursue only women.

Personality:
During his youth it was quite clear that Regulus was completely spoiled and far too arrogant for his own good. As a child he was rarely, if ever, told no and rarely was throughout his life. He had little ambition to work for the ministry or do anything else his father might suggested he do with his life because he found it all terribly boring and quite stifling. He loathed both being bored and being told what to do and this was what initially led him down a path of crime. He was fantastic at compartmentalizing, and managed to completely separate (in his mind, at least) his criminal life from his home life.

Regulus is fairly insecure, if only because he never felt as if he were as good as his siblings. Although he cared for them deeply, and even looked up to them, a small part of him resented them for being more important to their parents than him. Arcturus because he's the first born male and heir, and Lycoris because she was the only girl. He always felt an unnecessary extra, and because of that always craved attention and the feeling of being wanted/needed.

Family: Regulus was usually on good terms with his family, and was fairly close to his siblings. He avoided arguing with them, or taking sides. While he never really enjoyed spending time with any of his extended family or even his parents, he often attended their family dinners in order to keep everyone happy and to remain in good standing with everyone.

Personal History:
Regulus was the youngest of three, and as such never had many expectations placed upon him like his elder siblings did. While his brother was groomed to one day take over as the head of the family and his sister was prepared for marriage, Regulus was left to his own devices and spoiled rotten as the baby of the family. All his parents seemed to expect out of his was for him act in a way befitting his family name in public, and this he did for them. During his early childhood he was betrothed once, maybe twice, to the daughters of lesser pureblood families not thought a good enough catch for Arcturus. These promises of marriage never lasted, and were often dissolved rather quickly.

In school, Regulus was sorted into Slytherin like any other self-respecting Black, and skated through with fairly average grades. He saw no need to prove his intelligence to anybody, and preferred dating and quidditch to something as mundane as studying. His parents only rarely reprimanded him for not trying harder in school because all of their hopes and efforts were more closely concentrated on his elder brother. As long as Regulus did not humiliate them completely then they didn't care what he was up to. During his later teen years, Regulus became something of a dandy, choosing parties and expensive clothing over anything that even slightly resembled actual responsibility.

He discovered he fancied boys a little too much during his second year at Hogwarts, and was more exposed to boys outside of his family. At school, he never acted on his attractions, instead choosing to date the prettiest girls of his year. He liked them well enough, and was often attracted to them as well so he figured he could ignore his feeling for other boys altogether. Once he left Hogwarts, however, that began to change. He could often be found at clubs and bars that were frequented by all types -- including those like him. Since then, though, he has had only one semi-serious relationship with another male because to him it just wasn't worth it. He enjoyed his wealth and his family, and he didn't want to separated from it. He knew if his parents ever discovered his secret that he would be kicked out of the Black family like others before him. Because of this, Regulus played the part of hetero male for the entirety of his life and made sure others knew just how straight he was by leading a slightly promiscuous life.

Through young adulthood Regulus spent a good bit of his time in Jazz Clubs and the like with a girl on his arm and stiff drink in his hand. While his parents didn't approve of such a lifestyle, he was rarely reprimanded for it as long as he kept it discreet and out of the Society Pages. He spent much of his time gambling and consorting with characters of a shady nature, and by the time he was 25 he had sunk very deep indeed into the magical criminal underworld and it's organized crime scene. Over the length of his life he dabbled in numerous criminal activities, including illegal smuggling, extortion, fraud, loansharking, money laundering, and gambling to name a few. He opened a number of bars and clubs to hide his illegal activities.

Although he was under Ministry surveillance for years, Regulus was never actually charged and sentenced for his crimes. The most he ever got in way of punishment was a slap on the wrist and the rare fine. He managed to hide behind his name, wealth, and his influence over several political leaders. While his organization and crimes were known throughout the wizarding community, few actually associated crime with the name 'Regulus Black'. When working he used the alias 'Pavonis', a random name he chose when he was still rather young, and kept his true name mostly untainted by rumour. Because he was never actually arrested or identified in news papers as being 'Pavonis', Regulus managed to remain a member of the Black family.

Regulus never married. He found the idea of him as a husband and father nearly laughable, and often assured his parents that his brother's marriage and children would be enough to carry on the family name. Even though he didn't fancy the idea of marriage, Regulus did carry on several long-term relationships (and an unfathomable number of short ones) of varying degrees of seriousness and fathered two illegitimate children. One died shortly after birth, and the other was put up for adoption as far as Regulus is aware.

In 1959, at age 53, Regulus died -- poisoned by someone he thought to be one of his closest friends who apparently planned to take Regulus' place as Pavonis. The poison was undetectable, and it was assumed he had died of natural causes.
